Lancelot's prize for successfully running  a dangerous game called "the Gauntlet"  is kissing Guinevere. She won't kiss him, but King Arthur, not realizing Lancelot already knows Guinevere, invites Lancelot into the castle.

The Arthurian legend is beautifully retold in "First Knight" starring Sean Connery as King Arthur, the founder of Camelot and the Knights of the Round Table, Julia Ormond as the lovely and spirited Guinevere, and Richard Gere as the legendary soldier Lancelot.
